National Security Innovation Network Public-Private Solution Development, Collaboration, and Acceleration

Materiel

The National Center for Urban Operations (NCUO) frequently provides senior mentorship and subject matter expertise for material solution development in support of the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN). The purpose of this role is to reconnoiter & identify emerging technologies and material solutions from amongst the civilian entrepreneur & “start-up” population for rapid cultivation into programs of record to support urban conflict practitioners. To this end, NCUO has supported multiple 72-hour innovation sprints, known as “Hack-A-Thons” and multiple semester long collegiate “Hacking-4-Defense” events, resulting in various technologies being selected for mentorship by NSIN.

For more information on these events and technologies, see the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) Collaboration portfolio here.

These events included Hacking-4-Defense courses in Fall 2018, Spring 2019, Summer 2019, and Spring 2020; and Hack-A-Thons in February 2019 and April 2020.
