Tokyo National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) Current and Future Operations in Megacities Conference

Conceptual

The National Center for Urban Operations (NCUO) supported the “Current and Future Operations in Megacities” conference at the Tokyo National Institute for Defense Studies, hosted jointly by Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF), US Army Pacific (USARPAC), US Army Japan (UARJ), Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and the Australian Army. The purpose of the four day conference was to enhance understanding of the dense urban environment among strategic leaders and prepare all partners for the conduct of humanitarian and disaster relief (HADR) operations following natural and manmade catastrophe. This event was the second of its kind, continuing the dialogue among partners begun during the TRADOC “Multi-Domain Battle in Megacities” conference at NCUO’s base of operations, Fort Hamilton, New York in April 2018.

The first conference occurred from 03-04 April 2018. More information can be found here.

The second conference occurred from 16-19 July 2019. More information can can be found here.
